Where do the prices come from?
From the official product APIs of retailers we have an affiliate partnership with. We refresh every listing at least twice a day and store every observed price permanently, with its timestamp. Nothing is scraped from stores we have no relationship with, and history is never edited.
Why is the price here different from what the store shows?
A price on PriceSniff is the most recent one we observed, not a live quote — retailers can change prices between our checks. The chart tells you how the price has behaved; click through to the store for the current number.
Why isn't the product I searched for listed?
We only track products available from our partner retailers, so every listing here is one we can actually vouch for observing. If a product is not sold by a partner, it is not in the catalog at all.
How does PriceSniff make money?
Affiliate commissions, and nothing else. When you click through to a retailer and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. There are no ads, no paid placements, and no premium tier.
Can retailers pay for a better rating or ranking?
No. There is no mechanism for it. The deal-quality and completeness parts of the score are fixed formulas over recorded data, and the AI value assessment only sees collected product attributes — commissions are not an input anywhere.
What does the 0–100 score mean?
It blends three components: where the current price sits in the product's own 90-day range (40%), how complete our data on the product is (20%), and an AI value assessment grounded in the collected attributes (40%). Every score comes with a written rationale — click "Why this rating?" on the product page.
Is any of the text on the site AI-generated?
Yes — product summaries and score rationales are AI-written from the data we collected, and are labeled as such on the page. Prices, charts, and the deterministic parts of the score are fixed code; AI never touches them.
How do price alerts work?
Create a free account (Google or GitHub sign-in), press Watch on a product, and we email you when the price drops meaningfully or the product comes back in stock. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe that works without logging in.
What do you store about me?
For visitors: nothing personal. For account holders: your OAuth identity (name and email), your watchlist, and your alert preferences. Deleting your account removes all of it. See the privacy policy for the details.
How do I report a wrong price or get in touch?
Email thomas@pricesniff.com — corrections are welcome, and a price that looks wrong usually teaches us something about a retailer's API.
