The best time to buy a TV isn't a calendar date — it's a price. Displays cycle between a regular selling price and a much lower level several times a year, so the useful question isn't "when do TVs go on sale" but "what does this TV actually cost most of the time, and is today's number near that floor?"
We tracked four TVs through PriceSniff. As of 11 October 2026, three are at their tracked low and one has been completely flat. Here's how they sit.
What actually moves the needle
- Resolution and panel. 4K is the standard. Beyond that the panel type matters more than the number: a Crystal UHD LED-LCD set is a budget pick, an OLED set is a premium pick with per-pixel contrast.
- Refresh rate. A native 120Hz panel makes sports and console motion smoother. Budget sets that advertise 120Hz often reach it only at 1080p.
- Size. 55 inches is a solid living-room size; 65 inches is a bigger step up in area than the number suggests.
- Price floor. The tracked low, not the advertised price, tells you what a TV is genuinely worth.

LG C5 55-inch OLED — the premium main size
A 55-inch OLED evo 4K TV with Dolby Vision and a 120Hz panel (rated up to 144Hz). Currently $1,199.99, its tracked low, down from $1,499.99 where tracking began. The mainstream premium OLED at its floor.
LG C5 65-inch OLED — the living-room flagship
A 65-inch OLED evo 4K TV with the same panel tech in a size that fills a living room. Currently $1,349.95, its tracked low, against a tight range of $1,349.95–$1,399.99.
When to buy
- Buy now when the TV is at or within a few dollars of its tracked low, as the Samsung U8000H 55 and both LG C5 sizes are today. There's little reason to wait for a number that may not repeat soon.
- Watch when the price is flat, as the Samsung U7900F 65 is — a set that never dips can be bought whenever you're ready, but there's no urgency.
- Never pay the advertised price. Price history, not the list price, tells you what a TV is genuinely worth.
TV prices are volatile and the same panel changes hands at several price points. To see whether a set is actually at a good level, look at its tracking history — PriceSniff shows the number that matters: what it usually sells for.
