The three specs that actually matter
- Refresh rate. The jump from 60Hz to 120–180Hz is the single most noticeable upgrade in gaming. The jump from 240Hz to 320Hz+ matters mainly for competitive shooters. Diminishing returns are real.

- Panel type. IPS gives you accurate color and wide viewing angles and is the default recommendation. VA brings deeper contrast and shows up in curved ultrawides. Adaptive sync (FreeSync/G-Sync compatible) is effectively standard now — just confirm it's listed.
Everything else — 1ms marketing, "HDR" on budget panels, RGB lighting — is decoration.
