How we calculate price per watt

Price per watt ($/W) divides a power supply's lowest current price by its rated continuous wattage, giving you a like-for-like way to compare units of very different sizes — a $90 750 W unit works out to $0.12/W, cheaper per watt than a $70 450 W unit at $0.16/W even though it costs more outright.

We group power supplies by efficiency tier — 80 Plus Bronze, Gold and Platinum — because higher certification commands a premium that a raw $/W number alone would hide, and pairing tier with $/W shows what that efficiency actually costs. Prices update automatically from live retailer listings. $/W is a value guide, not a sizing tool: pick a wattage with comfortable headroom for your components first, then use $/W to find the best deal within the tier and capacity you need.
